the ultimate Transition Success
Coaching Program
Developing confidence in parents with anxiety related to teens transitioning out of the home after high school which allows parents to, competently, pursue their next stage of life.
As a parent, it's easy to feel sad, excited, and worried about your teens transition out of the home.
There is a ton of actions to consider such as adjusting your budget, your teens upcoming interdependence, navigating the new relationship with a teen in college, your changing role as a parent which is a lot to consider.
I know that you already know that
'cause you're here on this page.
Let's be Honest...
Your Teens Transition out of the Home is
TOTALLY HARD.
You may feel a sense of loss, while teens may feel anxious about leaving their support system.
You feel sadness, and isolation as your teen prepares to leaves home. You are worrying about their safety, health, and
well-being and you are asking yourself "is this feeling normal? "
You want to navigate this transition successfully by setting expectations, preparing for the challenges ahead like peer pressure, allowing interdependence and autonomy; all while uncertain how this will affect your own life.
You are struggling to adjust to this new dynamic and you find that everytime you have a conversation with your teen they're pulling away, becoming less communicative as conflict arises.
And, if you're really honest with yourself,
you see and sense the changes occurring in your parent-teen relationship yet you are uncertain how to best support your teen towards interdependence during this time of transition.
And, you know that
You can't do this alone
As teens begin to assert their independence, they may resist parental guidance and advice. Parents are looking for guidance and resources regarding how to prepare yet its hard to find answers they can trust that are actually helpful.
So, what's stopping you?
You've got enough questions to fill an arena... and no one to help you answer them.
But the worst part? Dr.Google, good ole'Youtube, and other free blogs full of affiliate links are vague and unhelpful no matter how many glasses of boxed wine you may drink.
Week after week, you're left with the same level of generic thinking. Questioning your value as a parent, and struggling to adjust to this new dynamic can leave you feeling sad and anxious as your teen prepares to leave home. It is easy to begin wondering if you are experiencing these feelings alone.
Big Doubt #1:
"I fear that my bond with my teen will drastically change."
This thought is (so) valid because the relationship will change but can remain close if actions are taken now such as 1) remaining open-minded and creating a regular patten of communication 2) respecting your teens' growth and 3) treating them as though they are capable of being responsible.
Big Doubt #2:
"I am stressed about being
an Empty Nester."
Many are concerned when they reach the stage of their last or only teen leaving home; which is why it is impactful to begin or continue improving your physical, mental, social and financial health. Consider journalling and identifying ways to lean in to the new you.
Big Doubt #3:
"I have anxiety because I am uncertain if my teen is actually ready to leave home."
Observe your teen and ask yourself, "can my teen 1) take responsibility without being reminded 2) find the answers to questions that surface 3) self-advocate and 4) cope with social pressures, just to name a few?"
Furthermore, how is your teens' time management, financial literacy, domestic maintenance and emotional intelligence skills? Asking questions such as these will reveal your teens' readiness.
Considering these doubts, which of course I understand, now is the time to ACT.
Why Act Now?
1
Strengthening the bond between you and your teen is more important (now) than ever before. Many universities believe incoming freshman students should be dropped off and family's should leave campus that day. I disagree since emotional support from family encourages them to do better in many areas.
2
Addressing anxiety earlier-on can prevent it from becoming more advanced as in leading to or worsening other severe mental and/or physical disorders.
3
Taking action (now) allows the planning time needed to assess your parenting style, create the support around you and evolve from that of a caregiver to that of a coach to your teen.
"I believe your social bond should strengthen despite the physical distance between you and your teen
after drop-off ."
why?
"Because higher grades, better test scores, and solid class attendance can be achieved with a stronger bond and heightened support."
for a STRONGER BOND, let's imagine ...
positive interactions with your teen whereas they welcome your support and advice.
higher test scores achieved by your teen as a result of your support, possibly.
fun ways to teach your teen how to care for themselves before they leave home.
observing your teen consistently showing up for themselves.
calls, during the semester, from your teen when faced with uncertainty.
increased transparency
from your teen.
deadlines being met and
tasks being completed by
your teen, both pre and post
transition.
Wait...have we just met?

Transition Success Coach
Author | Entrepreneur
I am a Transition Success Coach who delivers high-energy keynote presentations that challenge parents to leverage their focus and implement strategies they can apply before, during and after their teen’s transition out of the home. I mentor with passion and guide with strength while developing and encouraging parents towards becoming their next best selves.
In 2016, my oldest daughter transitioned out of our home and onto the college campus after graduating from high school and I was a wreck. I found myself on my prayer closet floor wailing after my husband, myself and both younger daughters dropped her off at Virginia Tech and returned back to Sugar Land, Texas. My first words once on my feet were, “What in the world did we just do? Like ... (for real) what just happened?”
I see you
because
I was you!
After driving seventeen hours back to Texas, I realized that I was unprepared for my daughters’ transition and found myself emotionally unsettled. I got up the next morning, went to church, and asked other mothers, who had already experienced their teen(s) transitioning out of the home, about their experience. I wanted to know how they managed and they said, "It was hard!" Another said, "It was like I was losing myself." Yet, another said, "I am still sad when my son leaves my house and he's married with kids." And, still, another mother offered to meet and pray with me for as long as I needed; of which I took her up on that offer, needless to say.
I learned, from each conversation, that there was a slight bit of grief still within each parent and that this challenge was a universal theme that influences both genders and cuts across numerous professions, cultures, ethnicities, ages, religious beliefs and races leaving no shortcuts to overcoming this change.
Having to deal with my own parental emotions as well as my teens' transition from home to college and beyond, I was inspired towards in-depth research and a life-long commitment to helping hundreds of parents prepare their teens for the essential passage from dependence to interdependence.
Emerging Mothers & Fathers ... as we navigate the different challenges and joys of parenting, we (sometimes) find ourselves in a state of uncertainty which is where I found myself when my oldest daughter left home. At that point, I knew strategies needed to be researched, developed tested, and implemented to improve the confidence, competence, consciousness, and calmness of Emerging Parents like you and me.
My proven strategies equip Emerging Mothers and Emerging Fathers with the tools to launch their teens into successful adulthood while inspiring parents to achieve their highest potential. During my journey, I supported hundreds of mothers through conference presentations, group sessions, one-on-one consultations, and self-study by providing answers and supporting the implementation of actions needed whether the teen is a high school junior or senior. My goal is to touch 50,000 or more mothers and fathers, with the help of God, within the next five years.

Client Testimonials
The words “Thank You" are not sufficient enough for the gratitude that I have for Dr. Lloyd and the wonderful words of encouragement and guidance that you shared with me when my teen was in his 2nd year of college and the country was paralyzed at the start of the pandemic in the Spring of 2020. It was easy at first to apply the various lessons of space, boundaries and the importance of communication and open dialogue when my teen was home, but I started to lose it when the new school year was about to start in the Fall of 2020 and my teen stated that he would be returning to the campus even though his courses would be delivered remotely. If it were not for Dr. Lloyd’s calming words of wisdom and encouragement, I am confident that my teen and I would not have the amazing mother-son relationship that we do today. Thank you again Dr. Lloyd! I now am the mother of a college graduate preparing to enter law school in the Fall of 2023."
-Kimberly Price-
I am so happy and very grateful that I connected with Dr. Michelle Lloyd. I am a young parent, but was eager to contribute any knowledge or expertise I had, I just battled with being shy to speak up. Dr. Michelle made me feel so comfortable and found ways for me to contribute that I was comfortable with and made it easy for me to be at ease and receptive to the knowledge being shared. I saw so many parents nervous and needing direction on this next phase of life without kids in the house, and she empathized with them and gave them so much confidence in their coping skills. So many parents have been touched and deeply grateful for Dr. Michelle's contributions and I feel privileged to be able to have connected with her.
